Altima Caviar held a private caviar blind tasting for a small select group of guests at La Goulue on July 16. Distinguished palates included those of actors George Hamilton and Alana Stewart, internationally renowned interior designer Scott Snyder, Palm Beach Daily News Editor Shannon Donnelly, and former journalist turned real estate maven Carolina Buia Barefoot. Guests were asked to taste five different caviars, including two Oscietras, a Beluga hybrid, a Siberian, and a Kaluga hybrid. Chilled champagne and vodka were offered as chasers.
The cover of the tins were turned upside down and the exposed coveted eggs were identified by numbers. Guests were asked to taste the caviar in its purest form (no blinis nor chips) and write comments on taste, texture, color, and add ANY comments they felt would describe each grade. Then the big REVEAL! We were delighted all 6 guests opted for our Amber Oscietra farmed in Israel as first choice. Kaluga hybrid and Siberian were the second favored. Blinis and french fries were brought out and the party continued.
