A Century of Heritage

Cartier has been part of Palm Beach’s story for more than a century, but the maison’s reputation was already established on the world stage long before its arrival. Known as the crown jeweler to 19 royal houses, Cartier had become a favorite of royalty, celebrities, and tycoons around the globe. Their history is defined by innovation, captured in the motto “Never imitate, always innovate,” and marked by milestones such as pioneering the use of platinum in jewelry. In 1924, Cartier opened on Worth Avenue, becoming the second-oldest retailer on the street and only its second U.S. boutique after the Fifth Avenue mansion in New York. Its arrival signaled Palm Beach’s growing reputation as an international destination for style and society. For more than 90 years, the Worth Avenue boutique welcomed generations of clients before closing its doors in 2017.

A New Chapter for the Playhouse

Last May, the Town Council approved plans for a 3,700-square-foot boutique within the redeveloped Royal Poinciana Playhouse, now named Glazer Hall. The new location will replace Cartier’s 1,800-square-foot space in the Royal Poinciana Plaza, responding to client demand for a larger setting and a wider assortment. This expansion reflects not only Cartier’s evolution as a maison but also its ability to continually adapt while maintaining the elegance and craftsmanship that define its heritage.

Celebrating Legacy and Looking Ahead

The project received unanimous support from the Council, underscoring Cartier’s longstanding bond with the island. Its return represents more than the opening of a new boutique; it is a continuation of tradition, a recognition of the clients who have shaped its story here, and a renewed commitment to Palm Beach’s future. One hundred years after first arriving, Cartier is preparing to open a space that honors its legacy while introducing a new chapter of luxury to the island. Expected to open in December, Cartier is aligning perfectly with the height of Palm Beach’s social season.
