Kahan Gallery at Ann Norton Sculpture Garden
This winter, Kahan Gallery brings a luminous chapter of modern art history to Palm Beach with a special exhibition at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. On view from January 14 – March 8, the presentation offers an extraordinary selection of ceramics, multi-color linocuts, and rare works on paper that trace Pablo Picasso’s late-career experimentation. Included are selected etchings from the Suite Vollard, drawings, prints, and tapestries, creating a dialogue across decades and revealing the remarkable continuity of Picasso’s vision.

Artistry in Evolution
To understand the significance of this moment, one must return to Vallauris, the small Côte d’Azur village where Picasso settled after World War II and found a new artistic home. Beginning in 1946, he spent nearly thirty years working between the Madoura ceramics workshop and the Arnéra print studio, transforming everyday materials into forms that were exuberant, sensual, and wholly inventive. Clay became sculpture; plates evolved into owls, fauns, and expressive portrait heads; vases stretched into monumental figures. His linocuts, produced in single pulls of vivid Mediterranean color, redefined the possibilities of the medium.

A Cohesive View of Constant Change
The Vallauris period stands as one of the most playful and exploratory phases of Picasso’s career, a moment when technique, imagination, and curiosity converged. By placing these works alongside earlier and contemporaneous pieces, Kahan Gallery highlights the thematic and technical threads that persisted across three decades, offering a rare, cohesive view of an artist who never stopped reinventing himself.
A vibrant addition to Palm Beach’s cultural season, the exhibition invites viewers into Picasso’s world of light, color, and relentless experimentation.
